Progress...

On our weekend adventure, We stopped at Tall Tale Yarn Shop in Tofte, Minnesota. The owner recommended this sock yarn. It is called Panda Cotton and made by Crystal Palace yarns. It is 55% bamboo, 24% cotton and 21% elastic nylon. It is so soft feeling. I explained to her that I was a new sock knitter - she highly recommended buying a second pair of needles and casting on a second pair and knitting both socks alternately. I took her up on her suggestion and I would pass it on as a good suggestion. I like doing the second sock while the steps are fresh in my mind.

I am beginning to "turn" the heel and then on to the gusset....

I adore the panda cotton! But when I knit with it, it was very splitty. Are you having that problem?

EXCELLENT idea to cast on both socks at once!!! Nice progress!

Yes, doing them simultaneously is an excellent idea. I've been toying with the idea of doing both socks on two circulars at the same time...I'm just a bit nervous about it though. That certainly is beautiful yarn and the sock progress is impressive.

The yarn is a little "splitty" so I need to kinda pay attention or I have split it...but I would definitely buy more and use it again...the softness isgreat

Your progress is great. What a swell idea to cast on both socks at the same time. I like that. I just bought a DVD that explains knitting two socks at once on circular needles. When I finish this pair I am going to watch the DVD.

P.S. Just a tip. If you find the matching pattern on the second skein of yarn and start at that point your patterns will match.

Your socks are looking great! I also like the idea of making them both at once. They did have one more package of those cheap-o needles that I'm using at JoAnn's! Maybe I should pick them up. In all honesty, they're working just fine-- and four sets of dpn's for $9.99. Can ya top that??

How "thick" is that Panda yarn you're using? Would it be comparable to a fingering type sock yarn, or heavier than that?

I do have a pic of my progress to post, but hubby has my camera, so I'll have to do it after he gets home. I'm not sure I like sharing my toys!!

Alana-

The Panda is a fingering weight. I am using size 2 needles...and I picked up my second pair at the Ben Franklin in Grand Marasis for under $4 :) - cheap works for me ;)
